Community Hospital

Goal: Live Our Mission

Beaufort Memorial Hospital, 1944
.

Our mission and our passion at Beaufort Memorial Hospital are to provide superior healthcare to all who need it and improve the overall health of the communities we serve. From the opening of our doors in May 1944 to the present, Beaufort Memorial remains committed to service as a not-for-profit community hospital. In fact, it is the only community, not-for-profit hospital between Savannah and Charleston.

Beaufort Memorial has continued to grow over the years to meet the needs of an increasing population. Today, Beaufort Memorial Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (The Joint Commission) for 197 beds. It boasts a medical staff of over 150 board-certified physicians, offering a broad range of clinical services for inpatients and outpatients.

In 2006, through a unique affiliation with Duke University Health System, we opened the Keyserling Cancer Center in Port Royal. With the addition of the latest technology in radiation therapy, the center offers a full range of cancer services to area residents. Through the generosity of our Foundation, we were among the first in the nation to acquire the latest version of the Varian linear accelerator—radiation technology found mostly in major teaching centers.

Bluffton Medical Services opened July 2006.

Later in the year, we opened Bluffton Medical Services in Westbury Park, offering a variety of services, including doctors’ offices, laboratory, x-ray and health education programs. We have already outgrown our space there, and plan to expand and add new services to meet the needs of our patients who live in the southern part of the county.
